For the fortunate ones that can not only afford the initial buy in, but the extensive maintenance and crew required for a vessel in this class we present the stunning AB 116 as the ultimate yacht for the East Coast. This will most likely raise some eyebrows for anyone familiar with yachts that would quickly say Pershing should be at the top of any lists including high performance large sport yachts. My argument against the Pershings is rooted in considerable experience with the 80, 92 and even the custom built 108 that we currently run and manage. These boats are simply priced unrealistically and even though well built do not merit costing sometimes more than double it’s equivalent counterpart from a well known ship yard. I believe in the mantra that you get what you pay for, however if you where to give me the price difference I could upgrade a lesser boat to become something monumentally better. So, back to the AB and it’s roomy interior that makes crossing the gulf stream at over 50mph the pleasure that boating was truly meant to be. Most people unfamiliar with boating are romanced by the beautiful pictures of boaters enjoying sunsets and dolphins, but reality is usually far less exciting. On most large yachts there can be a 20 hour cruise in complete darkness without anything but endless ocean and a fully stocked bar. When we go to the Bahamas or run the East Coast our itinerary requires the speed to constantly visit interesting landmarks and attractions. Our trips and charters feel more like an adventure than ocean travel.
